Charles Caldwell Fine Woodworking
is a one-man woodworking shop specializing in custom
built-ins, cabinets, and furniture, as well as stair
building.
I have a 35-year background in many
aspects of woodworking and homebuilding. For many years I was
the owner of a custom log cabin construction company. Since
the early 1980’s, I have been building built-ins, furniture,
and doing various remodeling jobs on Cape Ann, including
extensive experience as a master stair builder. Some of my
recent work was featured in two popular architectural books
describing a rather remarkable house in Manchester,
Massachusetts, for which I built some unusual stairways as
well as a number of built-ins. See
Inside the
Not So Big House, and
Outside the Not So Big House, both by Sarah Susanka.
I pride myself in being able to work
collaboratively and creatively with my customers to craft
work that both suits their needs and pleases the eye. I can
work from an idea, a sketch, or a magazine picture to create
a drawing of the project for the approval of my customer.
Without sacrificing quality, I have a good sense of how to
keep prices reasonable. The portfolio on this site shows a
few examples of my work.
